The UNT Campus Planning Team from Page, now Stantec, was on campus September 23–24, 2025, to conclude the Discovery Phase of the Campus Master Plan.

During the two-day visit, the planning team met with key stakeholder groups and toured several areas of campus to deepen their understanding of existing conditions and opportunities for future investment. Highlights from the visit included:

  • A tour of the College of Music facilities with Dean John Richmond, focusing on the quality, condition, and space needs of UNT’s world-renowned music programs.
  • A campus and landscape walk with UNT Facilities staff to examine key open spaces, pedestrian corridors, and stormwater management challenges across the Denton campus.
  • Focus group sessions with the Transportation and Parking team to review current conditions and discuss opportunities to improve campus mobility and access.
  • A two-day parking occupancy study, conducted by the transportation and parking subconsultant, to capture real-time utilization data that will inform future parking and mobility strategies.

Two Open Houses were also hosted — one at the Union on the main campus and another at Discovery Park — providing students, faculty, and staff the opportunity to share feedback, ideas, and aspirations for the future of UNT. Stay tuned for the results of those Open Houses to be shared soon.

The visit concluded with a Steering Committee meeting, where the planning team presented key findings from the Discovery Phase, provided space and facilities updates, and facilitated a “Big Ideas” workshop to help shape the vision for the next phase, Phase 2: Ideation.
